A botox treatment is an effective and widespread tool for several areas of application, including the cosmetic, where botox treatments reduce deep wrinkles and lines on the face, so that you achieve a younger and fresher appearance. Botox is a well-documented preparation that is widely used worldwide, and provides a temporary tightening effect of typically 3 – 6 months. At Normetica in the heart of Copenhagen, we are leading experts in treatment with botox and you are in extremely knowledgeable hands with our well-trained and competent staff.
When you receive a botox treatment, the release of signaling substances between the nerve and muscles is prevented, which causes the muscles to relax. The Botox product is cleaned of bacteria and has been used for more than 25 years to treat sweating and for cosmetic treatments all over the world.
The treatment itself is a very small intervention where the product is placed strategically according to the desired result. It requires a lot of experience and training to treat with botox, and we continuously train our skilled staff, so that we are always 100% up-to-date on both botox as a product as well as techniques and execution.
Botox falls under the category of non-surgical cosmetic treatment and is probably one of the world's most popular procedures, with many millions of treatments performed daily.
We ensure you a beautiful and natural appearance and thoroughly inform you of everything you need to know both before, during and after your botox treatment.

With botox, you can treat the dynamic wrinkles, i.e. wrinkles caused by muscle contractions in the skin. After injection, the muscles in the treated area will be prevented from contracting and causing folds in e.g. the forehead or around the eyes. This will cause the muscles to tense up and thus wrinkles will be smoothed out and at the same time significantly prevented from forming again. The effect will be temporary for about three to six months.
An important thing to note is that the sense of touch in the treated area is unchanged and it will only be the treated area that will be affected.
A botox treatment can possibly be combined with other treatments, including laser and filler treatment.
First, the skin on your face will be thoroughly cleaned to avoid bacteria. Your therapist will tell you exactly what needs to happen and answer any questions.
The Botox treatment is carried out either by our nurse or dermatologist, who injects small amounts of the product into the fine facial or neck muscles with a very fine and thin needle. Botox is placed just under the skin in the musculature at strategically selected locations. The treatment itself often only takes a very short time of approx. 10 – 15 minutes, and there may be some discomfort associated with the procedure which stops immediately at the end of the treatment.
The effect occurs slowly after 3-8 days and you will therefore only be able to see the final result after a few weeks.
You may experience slight redness at the injection site for a few hours after the injection and you should completely avoid touching or using make-up in the area for the following hours to avoid infection. In addition, it is important not to massage or press the treated area for the first 4 hours, so that the toxin does not spread to other muscles than the intended ones.
You can usually easily go to work afterwards/the day after without visible signs of treatment.
If the effect is not sufficient or there is inappropriate asymmetry, a "touch up" treatment will be carried out after 14 days. After this, when you feel that a treatment is needed again, you can book a new time for a follow-up botox treatment. If you are in doubt, you are of course always welcome to get a professional assessment.
Botox is used to a particularly large extent for cosmetic treatment, among other things to remove worry wrinkles between the eyebrows, crow's feet and smile wrinkles around the eyes, smoking wrinkles at the corners of the mouth, gummy smiles, bunny lines, v shape and more.
As a starting point, the vast majority of people are suitable for a botox treatment, but certain situations may occur where it is not recommended or the treatment should be postponed. This applies, among other things, to active acne or herpes in the area to be treated.
At Normetica, we offer, among other things, the following botox treatments with which we have extensive experience:
You are always more than welcome to contact us at the clinic with any questions.
Side effects in connection with a botox treatment are unusual, however, minor transient discomfort may occur in relation to the injections. These discomforts can be slight redness, swelling, bruising and itching. Other side effects are rare.
A few experience headaches for the first few days and very rarely short-term, mild flu-like symptoms are seen. Serious allergic reactions are seen in extremely rare cases.
There is no late sequel.
Intensive use of botox in several areas of the face can cause changes in facial expressions. In the lower face, the mimic muscles around the mouth can be paralyzed, making it difficult to whistle and drink with a straw. All side effects will subside within 4-6 months.
When botox paralyzes the treated muscles in the face, the skin is smoothed and wrinkles are considerably reduced. However, this only applies to dynamic and muscle-dependent wrinkles. If you have many non-dynamic wrinkles as a result of sunbathing, age etc., a combination of botox and laser treatment can be a really good solution for you.
If you have repeated treatments in the same area, the muscles will become thinner due to constant inactivity, and the result may therefore last longer between treatments.
Professional treatment by well-trained staff is extremely important to ensure that only the desired muscles are affected.
Most often, the treatment gives a nice and clear reduction in the dynamic lines. However, the effect may vary from person to person. Some need larger amounts of toxin than others to achieve an effect. Likewise, there are few people who are not susceptible to the treatment, probably because they have antibodies that neutralize the effect of the toxin. However, this is rarely seen.

Botox treatment is not given to pregnant women, breast-feeding women, with a known allergy to ingredients in the solution (Botulinum toxin, human albumn, lactose, sodium succinate) or if you have certain rare neuromuscular diseases (e.g. myasthenia, Eaton Lambert's disease).
If you take medicines of the types aminoglycosides, penicillamine, quinine or calcium blockers, the effect of Botulinum toxin can be enhanced.
We will always review this for your consultation, so we make sure that you can receive a botox treatment at the clinic without any problems.
